Baseball Recap: Cheatham County Central Comes Up Short

Cheatham County Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Harpeth Indians, falling 10-1. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-5 loss on Tuesday.

Parker Bender put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Bender wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Hannah, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Cheatham County Central's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Harpeth, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cheatham County Central will challenge Hunters Lane at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.64 runs per game on average), something the Cubs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Harpeth, they will take on Camden Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
