Basketball Preview: MCC Crescents vs. Niles North Vikings
The MCC Crescents are on the road again on Saturday and plays the Niles North Vikings at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Monday, MCC was the victim of a rough 90-69 loss at the hands of the Mustangs. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), MCC still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, MCC got a solid performance out of Ammar Ibrahim, who scored 33 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Ibrahim pulled down eight or more rebounds. Eman Hodzic was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Niles North gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Highland Park 80-55. Given Niles North's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Giants are ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
MCC's loss ended a 11-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7. As for Niles North, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6.
