Basketball Recap: Jed Dickens' Big Game Can't Quite Lead North Florida Christian over Maclay

North Florida Christian suffered their closest defeat since November 20, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Maclay Marauders by a score of 51-49. The Eagles have struggled against the Marauders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

North Florida Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jed Dickens, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Dickens is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jace Riggan, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Avery Coffin was nothing short of spectacular for Maclay: he went 9 of 11 en route to 25 points. Those 25 points gave Coffin a new career-high. Zeke Podgorski was another key player, putting up nine points.

North Florida Christian's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Maclay, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-13 record.

North Florida Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 84-68 defeat against Godby on the 30th. As for Maclay, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-32 victory against St. John Paul II on the 31st.
