Basketball Recap: Sami Liaromatis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wilmington over Joliet Catholic

Wilmington and Joliet Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Wilmington had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers by a score of 36-33. The Wildcats have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Wilmington lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sami Liaromatis, who went 6-for-15 to rack up 14 points and five rebounds. Skylar Rossow was another key player, putting up five points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Wilmington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Wilmington's loss dropped their record down to 20-10. As for Joliet Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-25.

Wilmington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Joliet Catholic, they will welcome Reed-Custer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
