Baseball Game Preview: Center Grove Trojans vs. Hamilton Southeastern Royals

The Center Grove Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Hamilton Southeastern Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hamilton Southeastern took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Center Grove, who comes in off a win.

Center Grove is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Indiana's top teams: Zionsville, who was ranked ninth at the time (Center Grove was ranked fourth). The Trojans blew past the Eagles 10-0 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hamilton Southeastern was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-4 to Westfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Royals have suffered since April 26, 2024.

Hamilton Southeastern got a good showing from Tyler Sarver, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. What's more, Sarver gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Trey McManama was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cy Cole, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Center Grove and bumps their season record up to 19-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Hamilton Southeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-17.

Center Grove beat Hamilton Southeastern 6-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
