Volleyball Recap: Riverside-Brookfield Falls Short of Sandburg in the Playoffs

Riverside-Brookfield and Sandburg squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Riverside-Brookfield had to settle for second. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Sandburg scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20.

Alec Oltrogge paced Riverside-Brookfield's offense, picking up five kills. Oltrogge got some help from Liam Keohane and his 12 assists. Cole Rubio controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Sandburg can attribute much of their success to Ethan Cleofe, who had ten digs.

Riverside-Brookfield's loss dropped their record down to 23-14. As for Sandburg, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 34-4.

As of now, neither Riverside-Brookfield nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
