Baseball Game Preview: Midview Middies vs. Bay Rockets

The Midview Middies will head out to take on the Bay Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Midview didn't have quite enough to beat Buckeye and fell 7-6.

Samuel Linden made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That run marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Derringer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Bay came out on top against Rocky River on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Rockets walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Pirates. The game was the first time the Rockets have beaten the Pirates on their field since April 18, 2023.

Ben Schrock and Andrew Liatti dominated on the mound. Schrock pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Liatti struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Schrock has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ethan Sedivec was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Chase Prudhoe, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Bay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. The last time their batting average was this high was was before the start of last season.

Bay's record now sits at 4-5. As for Midview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Midview suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Bay in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Middies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
