Macoy Terry leads Rock Canyon to victory over Legend

Recap: Rock Canyon Jaguars vs. Legend Titans

The Rock Canyon Jaguars had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They managed a 50-45 win over Legend. Given Rock Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Titans are ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Macoy Terry was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Nolan Kliewer, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Legend's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Whitehead, who scored eight points along with ten assists and seven rebounds. Kale Sparks was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.

Even though they lost, Legend were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rock Canyon only posted seven assists.

Rock Canyon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for Legend, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Canyon will square off against the Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Averaging 63.35 points so far this season, ThunderRidge's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so the Jaguars better be ready for a challenge. As for Legend, they will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Allowing an average of 50.4 points per game, Chaparral has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game.
