Recap: Yutan Chieftains vs. Concordia Mustangs
The Yutan Chieftains waltzed into their match Tuesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They breezed by Concordia at home to the tune of 65-23. Yutan's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yutan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jade Lewis, who scored 15 points. The game was Lewis' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Haley Kube, who scored 13 points.
Despite the defeat, Concordia saw an underclassman step up: Charis Hughes scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Yutan pushed their record up to 7-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Concordia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
Yutan has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Mead at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Mead comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Concordia, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln Lutheran on Thursday. Lincoln Lutheran comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
