Softball Recap: Deweyville Now 11-2 over Last 13 Games

Deweyville won the last time they faced Spurger and things went their way on Tuesday too. Deweyville put the hurt on Spurger with a sharp 17-3 win. Deweyville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Baylee Smith made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Deweyville got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Williams, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those three runs gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lakyn Williams, who scored four runs and stole six bases while going 2-for-3.

Deweyville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Deweyville is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Spurger, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

Coming up, Deweyville will head out to face off against Silsbee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Spurger, they will be playing at home against Danbury at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
