Baseball Recap: Civic Memorial Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Civic Memorial got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They came out on top against the Jersey Panthers by a score of 8-4. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 14-1 victory the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Brayden Prott tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Civic Memorial got a massive performance out of Chase Butler, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That home run was Butler's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Godar, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Civic Memorial's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-8. As for Jersey, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Civic Memorial will have a chance to go back-to-back against Jersey: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
