Softball Game Preview: Santa Fe Demons vs. Manzano Monarchs

Santa Fe is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Manzano a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Santa Fe Demons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Manzano Monarchs at 10:00 a.m. Santa Fe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Santa Fe managed to slip by Capital the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Demons came up short against the Jaguars on Saturday, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Manzano can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Rio Grande by a score of 5-2.

Briana Largo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

At the plate, Sophia Rios Duvall was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luna Bodella Ayala, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Manzano was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Grande only posted a batting average of .227.

Manzano's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Santa Fe, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Santa Fe took their win against Manzano when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Demons repeat their success, or do the Monarchs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
