After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Dubuque Senior, Iowa City was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-51 win over the Liberty Lightning. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 59-53 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Liberty had strong showings from Maddoc Coapstick, who posted ten points, and Jerimiah Washpun, who earned 18 points. Washpun's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Chase Goodheart, who had nine points.

Iowa City's victory bumped their record up to 6-22. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Ankeny the next time they take the court. Iowa City will head out to face Ankeny on Saturday, while Liberty will play them later in the day, at 7:30 p.m.
