Preview: Manchester Red Hawks vs. Edwin O. Smith Panthers
The Manchester Red Hawks will be playing at home against the Edwin O. Smith Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Manchester knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Edwin O. Smith likes a good challenge.
Even though Enfield scored an imposing 60 points on Monday, Manchester still came out on top. Manchester snuck past Enfield with a 66-60 win. Given Manchester's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Enfield is ranked 79th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Derrick Sheets, who scored 20 points. Jayveon Robinson was another key contributor, scoring no points along with 18 rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 92-52, which was the final score in Edwin O. Smith's tilt against East Catholic on Monday. Edwin O. Smith has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Manchester is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Edwin O. Smith, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
