Volleyball Recap: Franklin Academy's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

After flying high against Greater Miami Academy on Thursday, Franklin Academy came back down to earth. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Don Soffer Aventura Barracuda on Monday. The Panthers have struggled against the Barracuda recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Franklin Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin Academy lost, don't look at Sofia Hernandez. Despite the final result, she had 55 digs and four aces. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played. Nathalia Crespo was another key player, getting 18 digs.

Among those leading the charge was Brunna Oliveira, who had ten digs and seven assists. Those seven assists gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Donatella Armando, who had 14 assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Franklin Academy fell to 4-1. As for Don Soffer Aventura, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Franklin Academy has already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Hollywood Hills on the 16th. As for Don Soffer Aventura, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Sheridan Hills Christian on the 11th.
