Football Recap: Nathan Hale Takes a Loss

Nathan Hale lost against Tahlequah back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rangers were outmatched by the Tigers and fell 49-20. The Rangers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

When it comes to explaining why Nathan Hale lost, don't look at Jordan Deroin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 135 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 167 yards and one touchdown.

Tahlequah had a senior duo take command as Jake Girty gained 136 total yards and three touchdowns and Xaxton Carshall rushed for 103 yards and one score. Girty also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Tigers are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Michael Torkelson, who gained 72 total yards and a touchdown.

Nathan Hale has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Tahlequah, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

As of now, neither Nathan Hale nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
