Basketball Recap: Eastern Randolph Comes Up Short

Eastern Randolph was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 34-28 heartbreaker at the hands of the Trinity Bulldogs. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Trinity's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Nance led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Hooker, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and five blocks.

Eastern Randolph's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Trinity, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-8.

Eastern Randolph and Trinity could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. Eastern Randolph will face off against Providence Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 236 places (420 vs. 184). Similarly, Trinity (ranked 389th) will meet Randleman (ranked 155th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
