Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. North Kingstown Skippers

The Mt. Hope Huskies will take on the North Kingstown Skippers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mt. Hope has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight defeats, while North Kingstown will come in with three straight wins.

Last Saturday, Mt. Hope came up short against Barrington and fell 7-3.

Mt. Hope got a good showing from Jack Thompson, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Mt. Hope saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trace Dubois, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Dubois snagged this season. Another was Brian Abbruzzi, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, North Kingstown never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Portsmouth.

Mt. Hope's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for North Kingstown, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
