Volleyball Recap: Springfield Southeast's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Springfield Southeast came into Saturday's match having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Peoria Lions on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Spartans also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Springfield Southeast got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marc'E Wilson out in front who had eight kills, three aces, and one block. That's the most aces Wilson has posted over her last two matchups. Another player making a difference was Josey Grant, who had seven digs and three aces.

Springfield Southeast's win bumped their record up to 6-16. As for Peoria, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Springfield Southeast and Peoria could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Spartans (ranked 523rd) will meet Jacksonville (ranked 214th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Peoria will challenge Richwoods at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (617 vs. 288).
