Softball Game Preview: Firebaugh Eagles vs. Coalinga Horned Toads

Firebaugh is 0-10 against Coalinga since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Horned Toads at 4:00 p.m. Firebaugh has given up an average of 16.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Firebaugh came up short against Mendota on Friday, falling 15-2.

Meanwhile, Coalinga fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Dos Palos on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Broncos by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Horned Toads couldn't push the score so high this time.

Coalinga saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Brewer, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Coalinga's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-10. As for Firebaugh, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.

Firebaugh might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Coalinga in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
