Volleyball Recap: Varela Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Varela had to endure a five-match losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Reagan Bison on Thursday. For the Vipers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Bison walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

The win didn't come easy: Reagan scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21, 17-25, 25-20.

Despite the loss, Reagan saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rosie Lulo had 21 digs and two assists.

Varela picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 7-12. As for Reagan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Varela will venture away from home to take on Braddock at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Reagan, they will challenge JC Bermudez Doral at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
