Baseball Game Preview: Steamboat Springs Sailors vs. Meeker Cowboys

The Steamboat Springs Sailors will take on the Meeker Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Steamboat Springs didn't have quite enough to beat Summit and fell 2-1. The Sailors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Meeker came up short against Basalt on Monday, falling 11-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Cowboys in their meetings with the Longhorns: they've now lost seven in a row.

Cade Mills was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Mills wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Said Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Steamboat Springs' loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Meeker, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Steamboat Springs came out on top in a nail-biter against Meeker in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Sailors repeat their success, or do the Cowboys have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
