Softball Game Preview: Paetow Panthers vs. College Station Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Paetow Panthers face off against College Station Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Paetow is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Paetow managed to slip by Jordan the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Paetow came up short against Jordan on Friday, falling 12-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

MIA RUIZ was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, College Station's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 5-1 to Lake Creek. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Chloe Ream and Callia Carreon did some serious damage despite the final result: Ream got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI, while Carreon scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Carreon is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

College Station's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 15-5. As for Paetow, their loss dropped their record down to 8-10.

Paetow suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to College Station in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Paetow avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
