Football Recap: St. John's Mavericks vs. Lutheran South Academy Pioneers
If Lutheran South Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played St. John, they should've done a better job of containing Hanley Sayers. The Mavericks enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over the Pioneers on Friday for which the team can thank Sayers, who rushed for 157 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards.
Lutheran South Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Holt Teichman, who threw for 182 yards and one touchdown while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. 121 of Teichman's passing yards were hauled in by Khyree Sadler.
