Basketball Game Preview: Plainville Cardinals vs. Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs

The Plainville Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Plainville came up short against Logan/Palco and fell 57-49. While the Cardinals didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Logan/Palco 19-14 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, Thomas More Prep-Marian posted their closest win since February 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Russell 67-64. The win continues a trend for the Monarchs in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won eight in a row.

This is the second loss in a row for Plainville and nudges their season record down to 10-5-1. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Thomas More Prep-Marian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
