Volleyball Recap: Omaha South Comes Up Short

Omaha South was the 2-0 winner over Benson when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Packers came up short against the Bunnies on Monday, falling 3-0. The Packers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Omaha South was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-13, 25-23.

Yoelle Hernandez paced Omaha South's offense, picking up seven kills. Hernandez got some help from Jazmin Garcia Alvarez and her 15 assists. Garcia Alvarez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Sumeeda Rai had a dynamite game For Benson., getting 19 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Rai has posted over her last four contests.

Omaha South's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Benson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-19.

Looking ahead, Omaha South will venture away from home to face off against Omaha Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Benson, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against South Sioux City on the 7th.
