Arlington hasn't had much luck against Poly recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Bears at 3:15 p.m. Arlington has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Arlington came up short against Valley View on Friday, falling 15-5.
Delaney Perez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorena Ricasa, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Poly waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Bison 7-5.
Marley Audoma spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Poly got a massive performance out of Violet Espin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Espin has posted since back in March. Brookelyn Duerfeldt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Poly kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Poly's victory bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Arlington, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Arlington hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Poly struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
