Softball Recap: Buchanan Makes It Seven in a Row at Home

Buchanan put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over the Mission College Prep Royals.

Brooklyn Ainsworth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Bethany Alconcher and Addy Schafer did most of the damage at the plate: Alconcher scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Schafer went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The dominant performance also gave Alconcher a new career-high in RBI (three). CeCe Simas was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Buchanan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Buchanan pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Mission College Prep, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Buchanan beat Mission College Prep by a score of 5-1 later that day.
