Softball Recap: Grenada Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Grenada won the last time they faced Yazoo County and things went their way on Monday too. The Chargers came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-1.

Mary Taylour Wilbourn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Malori McClain, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mary Kate Barton, who earned one run and three stolen bases.

Grenada is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Yazoo County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9-1 record this season.

Grenada wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-0 win against Water Valley on the 14th. As for Yazoo County, they will host Aberdeen at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
