Baseball Recap: Riverside Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Riverside ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Medical Lake Cardinals, sneaking past 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rams as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Riverside let Gregory Stiles and Cody Wilson run wild. Stiles went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Wilson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Stiles a new career-high. Austin Jenkinson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Riverside's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-10. As for Medical Lake, their record is now 10-6.

Riverside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cardinals: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
