Basketball Game Preview: Falcon Falcons vs. Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks

Falcon and Cheyenne Mountain are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Falcon Falcons will challenge the Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Falcon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season.

Falcon is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They came up short against Lutheran, falling 68-48.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Tyler Cox, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Linville, who posted six points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Cheyenne Mountain put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 51-41 win over Pine Creek. The 51-point effort marked the Red-Tailed Hawks' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Cheyenne Mountain pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Falcon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything went Falcon's way against Cheyenne Mountain in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Falcon made off with a 76-54 win. In that game, Falcon amassed a halftime lead of 46-25, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
