Baseball Recap: Defiance Takes a Loss

If Defiance was riding high fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Ottawa-Glandorf on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Archbold Blue Streaks by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Streaks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Mason Noirot spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Colt Ward was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Drew Allegretti, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Defiance's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 13-8. As for Archbold, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Defiance is taking a road trip to square off against St. John's Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.8, the Titans 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Archbold, they will be playing at home against Evergreen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
