Basketball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

If Union was riding high fresh off their 67-45 takedown of MTI School of Knowledge last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Union Rockets were outmatched by the Wes-Del Warriors and fell 78-31. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rockets of the 90-33 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Several Rockets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lamar Schwartz, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 13 points and five assists. That was a full 41.9% of Union's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Lavon Schwartz was another key player, putting up eight points.

Josiah Love was his usual excellent self, going 14 of 20 on his way to 32 points and six steals for Wes-Del. The matchup was Love's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Carpenter, who had ten points.

Union's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Wes-Del, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Union will host Rooted School at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wes-Del, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-61 defeat against Monroe Central on the 14th.
