Baseball Recap: Woodstock North Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Woodstock North took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Plano, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunder sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Reapers on Saturday. With that victory, the Thunder brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Woodstock North got a great performance from Ryan Lalor as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Lalor also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Thunder are 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Jack Wollpert was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braeden Berner, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Woodstock North pushed their record up to 4-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Plano, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Woodstock North will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Reapers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
