Basketball Recap: Shelby-Rising City Takes a Loss

Shelby-Rising City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Exeter-Milligan/Friend Bobcats, falling 62-39. The Huskies were down 53-31 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Shelby-Rising City lost, don't look at Taya Pinneo. Despite the final result, she posted 25 points. Pinneo's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Even though they lost, Shelby-Rising City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Aniston Meints was her usual excellent self, going 10 of 21 on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds for Exeter-Milligan/Friend. Those 22 points gave Meints a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Oldehoeft, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Shelby-Rising City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Shelby-Rising City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-40 win against Fullerton on the 28th. As for Exeter-Milligan/Friend, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 55-24 loss against Humphrey-Lindsay on the 28th.
