Softball Game Preview: Cornwall Central Dragons vs. Minisink Valley Warriors

Cornwall Central is 1-9 against Minisink Valley since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Dragons will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m.

Cornwall Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Goshen Central on Tuesday. They came up short against the Gladiators, falling 8-1. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 11, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Meanwhile, Minisink Valley came tearing into Tuesday's contest with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Wizards as they made off with a 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Natalie Rogers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Hannah Ringus was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Minisink Valley's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Cornwall Central, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
