Football Recap: Lewisburg Comes Up Short

Lewisburg had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it five. They lost 38-14 to the Montoursville Warriors. The Green Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Xavier Carter threw for 75 yards on eight of 14 attempts. On the ground, Nick Coleman rushed for 175 yards and one TD while picking up 9.2 yards per carry.

As for Montoursville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.0 points on average over those games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montoursville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Christian Banks, who rushed for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. Banks also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Warriors are undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another signal caller making a difference was Eli Eck, who threw for 165 yards and two TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Lewisburg has already played their next game, a 35-0 loss against Mifflinburg on the 24th. As for Montoursville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-14 win against Loyalsock Township on the 24th.
