Softball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

If Lincoln was feeling good fresh off their 11-1 takedown of Lakewood on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Watkins Memorial Warriors on Thursday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Kira Bailey was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot, having posted three or more stolen bases the last five times she's played. Caleigh Cannnon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Watkins Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will face off against Westland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Watkins Memorial, they will challenge Westerville South at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
