Basketball Recap: Pine Ridge Thorpes vs. St. Stephens Eagles

The Pine Ridge Thorpes had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They put the hurt on St. Stephens with a sharp 76-51 win. Pine Ridge has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.

Pine Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kanye Hollow Horn out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hollow Horn has scored all season. Anthony Steele was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six assists and three steals.

Pine Ridge's win bumped their record up to 12-1. As for St. Stephens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge will challenge the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Dakota (White River is ranked 11th, while the Thorpes are ranked eighth). St. Stephens will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on February 17th.
