Soccer Game Preview: Redondo Union vs. South

The Redondo Union Sea Hawks will head out on the road to take on the South Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Redondo Union's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out El Segundo 1-0. Given Redondo Union's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 14th, while El Segundo are ranked 60th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Redondo Union's one-goal win came courtesy of Lucas Boff, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Mira Costa. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but South couldn't quite close it out.

Redondo Union's victory bumped their record up to 10-4-1. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4-3.

Redondo Union was able to grind out a solid win over South when the teams last played on January 6th, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sea Hawks since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
