Salem has gone a perfect 5-0 against Mountain View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Greyhounds will take on the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Salem's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
Mountain View's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Salem hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Valley Springs on Tuesday. Considering the Greyhounds have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jailyn Strong made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Strong was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Salem got a massive performance out of Allison Smith, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. What's more, Smith posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Natalie Burk was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
Salem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .826. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Mountain View, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They had just enough and edged out Cave City 3-2.
Salem pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Mountain View, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-6.
Salem took their victory against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greyhounds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
