Baseball Game Preview: Aransas Pass Panthers vs. Calhoun Sandcrabs

The Aransas Pass Panthers will square off against the Calhoun Sandcrabs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Aransas Pass is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Aransas Pass came up short against Port Aransas on Tuesday, falling 15-5.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Calhoun ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They put the hurt on Brazos with a sharp 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Sandcrabs, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Calhoun got a great performance from Trenton Taylor as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Ricky Martinez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Ondreas, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Calhoun back to even at 4-4-1. As for Aransas Pass, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1.
