Softball Recap: Northside Snags 11th Victory in Last 13 Games

Northside barely beat West Blocton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams blew past the Tigers 10-1 on Saturday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by six runs or more this season.

Avery Patton looked comfortable as she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mary Piepho was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Haley Lyons, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Northside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 18 consecutive contests.

Northside is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Blocton, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.

Northside has already played their next match (against Hillcrest), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for West Blocton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-5 victory against Homewood on the 7th.
