Softball Game Preview: Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders vs. Swansea Tigers

The Bamberg-Ehrhardt Red Raiders will square off against the Swansea Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt fell victim to Canfield and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 13-0. The Red Raiders' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Swansea, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Newberry with a sharp 13-3 win on Wednesday. The Tigers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th (when they won 17-1).

Abigail Brazier and LaMonika Wright did most of the damage at the plate: Brazier went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Wright got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave Brazier a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alesha Riley, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Swansea always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newberry only posted an OBP of .200.

The victory snapped Swansea's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-12 record. As for Bamberg-Ehrhardt, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt skirted past Swansea 7-5 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
