Softball Recap: Odem Comes Up Short

Odem was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the Taft Greyhounds. If the Owls were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Greyhounds when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Anabella Santellana was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Julia Garza, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Odem's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Taft, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-7.

Odem wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-0 win against George West on the 28th. As for Taft, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against Mathis on the 28th.
