The Berlin Redcoats are taking a road trip to challenge the Southington Blue Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Berlin comes in on four and Southington on 16.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Berlin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooke Walker, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds. Walker is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Katie Litwinko, who posted ten points and three steals.
Meanwhile, Southington won against South Windsor on Monday with 54 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Southington beat South Windsor by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 54-40. Given the Blue Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Bobcats are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Southington's win came from a few key players Berlin will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lily Cooper, who went 6-for-8 from beyond the arc to rack up 18 points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Hannah Blanchard was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Berlin's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Southington, their record is now 21-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Berlin has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Southington struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Berlin lost to Southington on the road by a decisive 67-52 margin in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cooper, who went 10-for-20 en route to 26 points along with seven assists and four steals.
