Basketball Recap: Jay Skates Past Brackenridge with Ease

With a playoff win on the line, Jay rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 50-19 win over the Brackenridge Eagles. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 18 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Ny'Ashia Barnes was her usual excellent self, going 6-for-13 on her way to 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Gutierrez, who posted 14 points.

Despite the loss, Brackenridge still got an impressive performance from Sarah Arriaga, who earned eight points and seven boards. Arriaga is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Sky Lopez was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Jay has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 26-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points over those games. As for Brackenridge, their loss dropped their record down to 20-16.

Coming up, Jay will face off against Wagner at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Wagner sitting on 21 straight victories and Jay on four. Brackenridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
