Softball Recap: Independence Knights vs. Heritage Coyotes
Independence never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They blew past the Heritage Coyotes 15-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Avery Hillier was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Hillier was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Katy TOWNE and Stormy DANIEL did most of the damage at the plate: TOWNE scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while DANIEL scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. TOWNE continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn BLOODWORTH, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Independence's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Heritage, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
