If Asheville Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Polk County on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions fell 3-1 to the Asheville School (Independent) Blues on Tuesday. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Asheville Christian Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 16-25, 27-25, 25-18, 26-24.

Asheville Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rachel Bass, who had 18 digs and three aces. Bass is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Simpson, who had 11 digs, three aces, and one block.

Asheville Christian Academy's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 20-2. As for Asheville School (Independent), their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

Asheville School (Independent) has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 defeat against Christ Church Episcopal on the 9th. Hopefully Asheville Christian Academy paid attention to the Blues' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Blues at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
