Softball Recap: Simi Valley Takes a Loss

Simi Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oaks Christian Lions. The Pioneers were not able to make up for their loss to the Lions from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Allison Hinds and Kylie Arellano stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hinds went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI, while Arellano scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Hinds has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Voorhees, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Simi Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4-1. As for Oaks Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Coming up, Simi Valley will host Camarillo at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Camarillo 3.4, Simi Valley 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Oaks Christian, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Etiwanda at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Etiwanda will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Oaks Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
